Farnborough Airshow Unveils Low‑Cost Missile Interceptors from Frankenburg and Lockheed Martin

At the Farnborough International Airshow, Frankenburg Technologies announced that it will integrate BAE Systems' BlackThorn multi‑role warhead into its compact Mark I interceptor and has signed a five‑year strategic cooperation agreement with Roxel UK to develop rocket motors for current and future missile programmes. The partnership is aimed at delivering higher‑volume, lower‑cost air‑defence missiles.

Lockheed Martin also used the show to introduce two new air‑defence solutions: the PAC‑3 ACE interceptor, marketed as a lower‑cost alternative that costs less than half of a PAC‑3 MSE while remaining compatible with Patriot and IBCS systems, and the MORFIUS X‑Rotor airborne high‑power microwave system designed to counter swarms of unmanned aircraft. Both products seek to expand defensive capacity against a growing range of missile and drone threats.
