Farnham residents urged to support local shops over online retailers
Waverley Borough Council has launched a campaign in Farnham to encourage residents to shop at local high streets rather than purchasing goods online. The initiative, titled ‘When did you last visit your local high street?’, aims to support independent businesses and sustain local jobs.
Following a similar launch in Haslemere, the campaign seeks to highlight the unique character and vibrancy provided by Farnham’s independent retailers. Cllr Liz Townsend, Waverley’s portfolio holder for planning and economic development, stated that shopping locally offers benefits such as personalized advice and unique products that are not widely available elsewhere.
