Farnsley Middle School parents protest AI-generated errors in student packets
Parents at Farnsley Middle School in Louisville, Kentucky, have expressed outrage after students received instructional packets containing numerous errors generated by artificial intelligence.
The materials, distributed on the first day of class, included a North American geography map with significant misspellings, such as “Venecky” for Kentucky, “Lookoong” for Louisiana, “Taxas” for Texas, and “Olkchoma” for Oklahoma. Additionally, the map incorrectly placed Havana, Cuba, on Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula.
Further inaccuracies were found in science-related content, including a periodic table that listed Magnesium with an impossible atomic mass of -3.08 and a solar system diagram that misspelled Mars as “Marc” and displayed incorrect lunar phases.
