Faro Hospital Stroke Unit marks 20 years with new regional protocol

The Stroke Unit at Faro Hospital, part of the Algarve Local Health Unit (ULS Algarve), has marked 20 years of continuous operation. To commemorate this milestone, a new healthcare protocol has been established to expand specialized services.

A signed agreement between the ULS Algarve and the ULS Baixo Alentejo allows patients from the Baixo Alentejo region to access specialized thrombectomy treatments. This collaboration aims to provide differentiated care and improve survival rates by extending specialized stroke intervention to a wider geographic area.
