Faro Santander cultural center opens in historic Edificio Pereda
The Banco Santander Foundation has inaugurated Faro Santander, a new cultural project located in the historic Edificio Pereda. Designed by Pritzker Prize winner David Chipperfield, the rehabilitated building offers over 10,000 square meters of space across ten levels, including 3,000 square meters dedicated to exhibition areas.
The institution is launching with three major proposals. One featured exhibition, ‘Masterpieces from the Banco Santander Collection’, curated by María Dolores Jiménez-Blanco, showcases nearly five centuries of art history. The collection spans from the 16th century to the present day, organized into thematic sections including sacred histories featuring artists such as Titian, El Greco, and Velázquez, as well as landscapes, still lifes, and portraits.
