Faro to host collective art project focused on city walls
The international artistic collective Threadsafe is organizing a collective creation event in Faro from August 23 to 27. The project is dedicated to the textures, histories, and memories of the city's walls.
Participants will engage in a large-scale collective tracing of the stone surfaces onto paper at Largo de São Francisco. The activity uses wax pencils produced by the collective, which incorporate Algarve clay as a pigment to reflect the local landscape. The initiative aims to create a “second skin” for the walls, merging the monument's physical matter with the personal memories of residents.
In addition to the artistic tracing, the project includes the voluntary collection of oral testimonies from individuals with significant connections to the Old City to be included in an audiovisual archive.
