Faroe Islands U21 football team secures away win against Iceland

The Faroe Islands U21 national football team secured an away victory against Iceland at Tórsvøllur. Despite a difficult first half where the Faroese side struggled and trailed 0-2, they improved their defensive performance in the second half to claim the win.

U21 coach Ólavur Mikkelsen noted that while the team achieved a record 12 points during this qualification campaign, the players had hoped for an even stronger performance. The match served as the final fixture in the qualifying group for the Euro 2027 tournament.

Prior to this match, Iceland sat in third place in the group with 15 points, trailing Switzerland and France, and held a mathematical chance to finish in second place depending on other group results.
