Farol dos Campeões judokas win nine medals at JEMs 2026

Nine judokas from the ‘Farol dos Campeões’ social project, maintained by TUP Porto São Luís, secured nine medals at the 2026 Jogos Escolares Maranhenses (JEMs). The team achieved a 100% success rate, with two gold medals and seven silver medals.

Samara Sousa Rodrigues and Rkayara Rocha Ferreira won gold. Silver medals were awarded to Arthur Rocha Ferreira, Iudy Nunes Póvoas, Kelly Vitória da Silva Beserra, sisters Larissa Valentim Ferreira and Lara Gabrielly Valentim Ferreira, Rebeca Vitória Espindola de Almeida, and Milena Marques Santos. The athletes trained under the guidance of Sensei Witaçuci Bezerra.

Now in its fourth year, the project aims to transform the lives of children and adolescents in São Luís through sports, fostering discipline and personal values. Lívia Cândice, Administrative Manager of TUP Porto São Luís, noted that the project provides significant changes for athletes and their families beyond competitive results.
