Farooq Abdullah condemns Pakistan suicide attack, urges dialogue

Farooq Abdullah, president of the J-K National Conference, has condemned a recent suicide bombing in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, labeling terrorism the “greatest challenge” facing the world. Abdullah called for India and Pakistan to resume diplomatic dialogue to restore peace in both nations.

The attack occurred on September 18 at the Kohat Police Lines, where an explosives-laden vehicle detonated near a mosque. Following the initial blast, several attackers entered the compound, targeting the Counter Terrorism Department and Special Branch buildings. According to reports, at least 21 people were killed, including 15 police officials, and more than 80 people were injured.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General Zulfiqar Hameed stated that a vehicle-borne suicide bomber struck the compound’s gate, after which at least seven attackers entered the premises. Security personnel killed six of the attackers, including the suicide bomber, while operations continued to address remaining threats. The attack was claimed by a terrorist group led by Hafiz Gul Bahadur.
