Farroupilha, Brazil Hosts Fifth Public Music School Winter Festival

The municipality of Farroupilha, in Rio Grande do Sul, opened its fifth Winter Festival of the Public Music School on August 3, running through August 16. All concerts, workshops and other activities are offered free of charge and take place at multiple city locations, including the opening at the Igreja Matriz with performances by local choirs such as the Canarinhos da Serra and the Coral Elo Sonoro.

The event is organized by the Farroupilha City Hall in partnership with the Casa de Cultura, Sesc Farroupilha and the Public Music School, with financial support from the state cultural program Pró‑Cultura. Workshops cover percussion, music theory, wind‑instrument experimentation and vocal training, and tickets for concerts are collected at the Casa de Cultura or Sesc.

The festival aims to strengthen musical education in the community and promote cultural tourism, with additional programming scheduled throughout the two‑week period.
