Fasano municipal pool clarifies disability access and rehabilitation limits

The Social Policies Commission in Fasano met to clarify regulations regarding disability access at the municipal swimming pool. Local officials, including the Mayor and Councilor Caroli, clarified that the municipal facility is not structurally or professionally classified to host therapeutic-rehabilitative programs for severe disabilities.

Disability Manager Antonio Calabrese emphasized the legal distinction between general swimming activities, accessibility, and specialized therapeutic-rehabilitative activities. While the pool remains accessible for swimming activities—maintaining existing provisions such as the presence of an accompanying person—it lacks the specific organizational requirements for medical rehabilitation.

To address the needs of those requiring water-based therapy, a new project will be submitted to the administration. This initiative aims to facilitate access to properly classified facilities by verifying requirements and exploring potential forms of economic support.
