Fashion industry sees major collaborations and leadership shifts

The fashion industry is experiencing significant shifts through new collaborations and leadership changes. H&M has announced a partnership with Lebanese designer Elie Saab, scheduled for release on October 22, 2026. The collection aims to bring high-fashion elements such as delicate lace, sequins, and impeccable tailoring to accessible women’s, men’s, and accessory lines.

In contrast, the brand Off-White faces an uncertain future following the departure of creative director Ib Kamara on August 31. This exit leaves the brand without a successor or a scheduled show for the upcoming season, complicating the legacy of founder Virgil Abloh. This leadership vacuum occurs amidst a broader cooling of the luxury streetwear market and follows the sale of the firm from LVMH to Bluestar Alliance in September 2024.

Beyond corporate movements, literature is being used to analyze the industry's deeper impacts. Works such as Sophia Amoruso’s ‘Girlboss’ examine digital entrepreneurship, while Nathalie Olah’s ‘Bad Taste’ explores how class and power influence aesthetic legitimacy. Additionally, Shakaila Forbes-Bell’s ‘Big Dress Energy’ investigates the psychological relationship between clothing and self-perception.
