Fast Retailing reports 25% profit increase as Uniqlo expands

Fast Retailing, the parent company of Uniqlo, reported a 25.3% increase in net profit for its fiscal year ending in August, reaching 542.5 billion yen (approximately 3.06 billion euros). The company's total sales rose 16.6% year-on-year to 3.96 trillion yen (approximately 22.33 billion euros).

International sales for Uniqlo grew by 26.3% to 2.4 trillion yen, while domestic Japanese sales increased by 5.3% to 1.08 trillion yen. Driven by expansions in Europe and North America, Fast Retailing is positioned to potentially overtake H&M as the world's second-largest fashion retailer, trailing only Inditex.

Founder and CEO Tadashi Yanai stated that the company's goal has always been to become the world's number one clothing retailer. For the upcoming fiscal year ending in August 2027, the company forecasts a 12.3% increase in revenue and plans to expand its store network to 3,545 locations globally, with a focus on Southeast Asia, Australia, and India.
