Fastweb and Vodafone notify customers regarding email tracking pixels

Fastweb and Vodafone customers are receiving privacy updates regarding the use of tracking pixels in commercial email communications. Following their merger under the Swisscom group, both operators are informing users about how these technical tools function.

A tracking pixel is a tiny, often transparent image embedded in an email. When a recipient opens the message, the pixel loads, allowing the company to collect data such as whether the email was read, the time of opening, and the type of device used. The companies state these tools are used to measure communication effectiveness and calibrate the frequency of messages.

Customers can opt out of this tracking by using the specific link provided at the bottom of the notification emails. Selecting the option to disable tracking does not unsubscribe the user from commercial communications; it only prevents the collection of interaction data via pixels. Users wishing to stop receiving marketing emails entirely must use the standard unsubscribe links or the customer area.
