Fat Pat's Bar & Grill closes original Lafayette location

Fat Pat's Bar & Grill has permanently closed its original Lafayette location on Verot School Road. The family-owned restaurant, which first opened in January 2007, ended its nearly 20-year run at that site in October 2026.

The decision to close the original location was attributed to declining performance and structural issues with the building. Stephanie St. Pierre, manager of the Carencro location, noted that the specific site struggled and faced building-related problems.

Despite the closure, the brand plans to remain in the area. A new location is scheduled to open at 6004 Johnston Street, near the Acadiana Mall, less than a mile from the original site. The new project will feature the restaurant alongside an adjoining commercial space. The anticipated opening is targeted for December 2026 or early January 2027.
