Fatah leadership discusses upcoming Palestinian elections and regional developments

Leadership within the Fatah movement is focusing on preparations for upcoming national elections and addressing the current political and field developments in the Palestinian territories.

Ruhi Fattouh, Chairman of the Palestinian National Council, met with Fatah cadres in Hebron to discuss upcoming elections for the Palestinian National Council and the Legislative Council. The discussions emphasized the importance of successful elections to strengthen national participation and democratic life. Fattouh also addressed the political situation in the West Bank and Gaza, calling for internal unity and the protection of Palestinian prisoners, specifically mentioning Marwan Barghouti.

Simultaneously, the Fatah Central Committee, chaired by Vice Chairman Hussein al-Sheikh, met to discuss election readiness and organizational mobilization. The committee highlighted the need to prepare cadres to ensure the success of the democratic process. The meeting also addressed the humanitarian situation in Gaza and the escalation of settler violence and Israeli military actions in the West Bank, stressing the importance of citizen steadfastness in the face of displacement and settlement expansion.
