Fatah official warns of West Bank explosion due to settler violence
Jibril Rajoub, a senior official of the Fatah party, has warned that increasing violence by Israeli settlers against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank risks triggering an ‘explosion’. Speaking from Cairo, Rajoub described the actions—which include physical assaults, theft of crops, land seizure, and vandalism of religious sites—as ‘terrorism’ carried out under the supervision of the Israeli government.
According to both Israeli and Palestinian NGOs, these incidents rarely result in legal prosecution, fostering a sense of impunity. In response to the escalating tensions, various Palestinian factions recently met in Cairo to discuss a unified strategy for addressing the occupation through non-violent means. Rajoub emphasized that ‘bloodshed is no longer an acceptable option’ and called for a strategic shift toward ‘peaceful struggle’ through political and diplomatic confrontation.
