Fatah to contest Palestinian elections on unified PLO list

The Fatah movement's Revolutionary Council has announced its intention to participate in the Palestinian legislative elections, scheduled for November 28, 2026, running on an official national list. This list is being developed in consultation with various factions within the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) to protect the national project and expand political partnership.

Recent discussions held in Cairo included leftist organizations such as the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine. While Fatah aims for a unified list, these two factions have not yet announced their final positions regarding participation.

In a statement following its 'Steadfastness and Firmness' session chaired by Mahmoud Abbas, the Revolutionary Council emphasized the need for national unity and political cohesion between Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem. The Council also highlighted the importance of defending Palestinian prisoners, specifically mentioning Marwan Barghouti, and reaffirmed the PLO's role as the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people.
