Fatal accidents reported on A3 in Germany and A16 in Switzerland
Multiple fatal traffic accidents have been reported on major European motorways.
On the A3 near Emmerich, Germany, a 37-year-old man died after his vehicle overturned while attempting to avoid a lane-changing truck. The truck, which reportedly has Dutch registration, fled the scene despite witnesses hearing the impact. A 26-year-old pregnant woman and a three-year-old child in the vehicle sustained life-threatening injuries. Authorities are investigating potential alcohol involvement and searching for the driver.
In Switzerland, a head-on collision occurred on the A16 near Moutier. A car crossed into the oncoming lane after passing the Graitery Tunnel, striking another vehicle. A female passenger died at the scene, and two other drivers were seriously injured and airlifted to hospitals by Rega helicopters. Investigations into the cause of the lane departure are ongoing.
