Fatal accident on Autobahn 1 near Stuhr

A 32-year-old driver from the Verden district died following a severe traffic accident on the Autobahn 1 near Stuhr. The incident occurred around 5:15 PM on a Tuesday while the driver was traveling toward Hamburg.

According to police, the driver failed to notice the end of a traffic jam caused by construction work and collided at high speed with a stationary semi-trailer operated by a 46-year-old woman. The driver became trapped beneath the trailer and required approximately 30 emergency responders from the Brinkum and Groß Mackenstedt volunteer fire departments to extricate him. Despite medical intervention, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The collision resulted in a full closure of the Autobahn 1 in the direction of Hamburg. Traffic was diverted via the Stuhr junction, and the full closure was eventually lifted in the early hours of the morning.
