La Matanza police arrest suspect in fatal hit-and-run of elderly woman
Authorities in Argentina have arrested a 19-year-old man, identified as Ignacio Roa, in connection with a fatal hit-and-run in La Matanza. The suspect is accused of striking 67-year-old Raquel Isabel Ferreira with a motorcycle on September 21 and fleeing the scene without providing assistance.
Security footage from the intersection of Thames and Guido Spano captured the incident, showing the motorcyclist striking the woman and continuing to drive away. Following an investigation by the DDI of La Matanza, police conducted a raid in Morón, where they seized the motorcycle, a helmet, and other items matching descriptions from the video.
Separately, in Mendoza, a 13-year-old boy is in intensive care after being struck by a car while running across a highway. The incident occurred following a confrontation with delivery workers. The Public Prosecutor's Office is investigating whether the minor attempted a robbery prior to the accident, though they have indicated the driver will not face charges as the minor crossed in an unauthorized area.
