Fatal accidents reported in Argentina and Spain

Two separate fatal accidents have been reported in Argentina and Spain.

In Argentina, a 37-year-old oil worker died early Sunday morning on Provincial Route 17 near Añelo, in the Vaca Muerta region. The victim, an employee of a service firm, was struck by a sedan in an area with low visibility. The driver remained at the scene and notified authorities. Following an investigation by prosecutor María Eugenia Titanti, the driver has been detained while authorities conduct mechanical inspections of the vehicle.

In Spain, David Calleja, owner of the Hermanos Calleja winery in Lanciego, Álava, died following a workplace accident. Calleja fell into a tank and inhaled carbon dioxide (CO2) produced during grape fermentation, a gas that can cause asphyxiation. Despite emergency services attempting resuscitation, he could not be saved. The Basque Government has issued a warning to the wine sector to increase safety measures and ventilation to prevent similar incidents involving CO2 accumulation.
