Fatal accidents reported in Busan and Hokkaido

Two separate fatal accidents involving foreign nationals or specific occupational activities were reported in South Korea and Japan.

In Busan, South Korea, a female diver in her 70s died after being found in a state of cardiac arrest near Songjeong Port in Haeundae-gu. Colleagues discovered her at a rocky area near Jukdo Park, and although marine police rescued her and transported her to a hospital, she was pronounced dead. Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the diving accident.

In Kitami, Hokkaido, Japan, a woman in her 60s, believed to be a French national, died following a mountain rescue operation on Mt. Buka. She and a male companion, also believed to be French, were reported unable to move due to poor health. Rescuers found the pair near a mountain trail during sleet conditions; while the man survived after being transported to a hospital, the woman passed away. Police noted the pair was lightly equipped for the weather.
