Man dead after e‑scooter attackers beat him in Vienna park

On the night of 27 June 2026 police were called to a park near Zieritzgasse in Vienna’s Donaustadt district after hearing a woman’s cries for help. Officers found a woman and a man lying motionless on the grass. The man, aged 38‑33 depending on the report, had suffered multiple punches to the face and severe head injuries inflicted by two unidentified attackers who arrived on e‑scooters. Resuscitation efforts were begun immediately, and the man was later stabilised by the Viennese emergency service before being taken to hospital, where he died from his injuries. The woman was also assaulted, threatened with further violence and forced to hand over cash before the assailants fled in an unknown direction. Police identified the incident as a violent robbery; the Landeskriminalamt Wien (Vienna’s regional criminal police) has taken over the investigation and is seeking witnesses and any information on the attackers.
