Richmond, BC charter boat capsizes – six presumed dead, search ongoing

A fishing charter boat capsized off the coast of Richmond, British Columbia, on June 28. Ten people were aboard; four were rescued and six remain missing and are presumed dead. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has deployed an investigation team, and the RCMP’s serious‑crimes unit is leading the inquiry into the cause and the identities of the missing.

The popular B.C. TV show “Big Coast” noted that the vessel had been used on the program for several years before being sold to new owners in Richmond. The show’s hosts highlighted that the boat’s AIS system was functioning, which is assisting search and recovery operations.
