Patuakhali bus-auto-rickshaw collision kills four

Four people were killed and at least ten others were injured following a collision between a passenger bus and an auto-rickshaw on the Dhaka-Kuakata Highway in Patuakhali. The accident occurred near the Dhalu Gazir Mor area in Patuakhali Sadar Upazila on Saturday night around 11:40 PM.

According to witnesses and local reports, an Imran Travels bus traveling from Barguna to Dhaka lost control and collided with an oncoming auto-rickshaw. The impact caused the auto-rickshaw to be crushed under the bus, and both vehicles subsequently plunged into a roadside ditch. The bus reportedly ended up submerged in water.

Authorities from the Fire Service and local police recovered three bodies from the scene, while a fourth victim died later at Patuakhali Medical College Hospital. The deceased have been identified as auto-rickshaw driver Abdul Kayum Pedda, Jahangir Howlader, Shilpi Rani, and Bithi Rani. Passengers on the bus reported that the vehicle was traveling at a high, reckless speed prior to the crash.
