Porto de Mós cancels festival after fatal accident of 19-year-old

The 'Viver São Bento' festival in Porto de Mós has been cancelled following the death of 19-year-old Martim Pereira. The young man died on Friday night, September 18, after his vehicle veered off the road on Estrada 5 de Outubro near Alcanede.

Martim Pereira, a resident of Vale Florido and son of the Secretary of the São Bento Parish Council, was a well-known member of the local community and an ex-student of the Ourém Professional School. His death has prompted widespread mourning from local institutions, including the Porto de Mós Municipality, the Abrã Parish Council, and the Sol do Carvalheiro Association.

Emergency services, including the Alcanede Volunteer Firefighters and the Santarém Hospital medical team, responded to the scene. The accident caused a temporary closure of the road for investigations and cleanup operations.
