Fatal collision on S8 expressway in Prosienica leaves one dead

A fatal collision between a Mercedes and a Seat occurred on the S8 expressway at kilometer 558 in Prosienica, heading towards Białystok. The accident resulted in the death of a 30-year-old man, who died at the scene despite resuscitation efforts. A 31-year-old passenger from the Seat was transported to the hospital for medical examinations.

Following the collision, the 39-year-old driver of the Mercedes reportedly drove away from the scene and subsequently attempted to flee on foot. He was intercepted and detained by a traffic police patrol from Ostrów Mazowiecka. Preliminary reports indicate the driver was sober and possessed the required driving permits. Traffic in the area was diverted via the S61 Łomża – Suwałki – Ostrołęka junction.
