Fatal crash in Cremona province kills 56‑year‑old Cristina Baiocchi

A night‑time collision on provincial road 86 near Casalbuttano in the province of Cremona left 56‑year‑old Cristina Baiocchi dead. Baiocchi, also known as Savina, was returning home after an evening with friends when a 23‑year‑old driver from Brescia lost control, crossed into the opposite lane and struck a BMW before hitting the Kia in which Baiocchi and three colleagues were travelling.

Baiocchi, a resident of Spinadesco, was about to marry her long‑time partner Cristiano and had a grown daughter. The other six occupants of the crash were taken to Cremona hospital with non‑life‑threatening injuries. Police have opened a homicide investigation into the driver, who reported feeling ill before the accident. Local officials, including Mayor Roberto Lazzari, expressed sorrow for the loss and noted the impact on the community.
