Fatal high-speed collision on Croatia's A3 motorway kills Bosnian driver

A 33-year-old truck driver from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Alija Čaušević, has died following a high-speed traffic accident on the A3 motorway near Sikirevci, Croatia.

According to the Brod-Posavina Police Administration, the incident occurred on a Sunday around 9:00 PM. Investigators determined that Čaušević was driving a vehicle with Slovenian registration at a speed of at least 210 km/h in a zone where the limit is 130 km/h. The vehicle subsequently struck the rear of a truck with Serbian registration, which was being driven by a 68-year-old Serbian citizen.

Both the driver and a 37-year-old passenger sustained severe injuries and were trapped in the vehicle, requiring intervention from firefighters and emergency medical services. While both were transported to a hospital in Slavonski Brod for treatment, Čaušević later succumbed to his injuries. Police have filed a criminal complaint against the 33-year-old driver. It remains unclear whether the crash was caused by negligence or if the driver fell asleep at the wheel.
