Italian highways see spate of fatal crashes, multiple deaths and injuries

A series of serious road accidents occurred across Italy in recent days. On the Pontina near Latina, a three‑vehicle collision killed 50‑year‑old driver Singh Harpreet, left a two‑month‑old infant dead after an emergency transfer to Rome’s Bambino Gesù hospital, and left the infant’s mother in critical condition; five other people were injured and the road was temporarily closed.

Other incidents included a crash on the A26 near Alessandria that killed a 64‑year‑old motorcyclist and injured a 19‑year‑old passenger, an A14 accident between Loreto and Ancona that claimed the life of an 80‑year‑old driver, and a deadly motorcycle collision in Positano that killed 49‑year‑old businessman Ferdinando Fusco. Additional crashes involved a scooter‑car collision on the Resia bridge in Bolzano that severely injured a 20‑year‑old rider, a scooter hitting a combine harvester near Atri that hospitalized a 17‑year‑old, and several scooter‑car impacts in the Marche and Abruzzo regions.

Emergency services, including ambulances, helicopters, fire crews and police, responded to each scene, conducting rescues, providing medical care, and carrying out investigations to determine causes and responsibility. The incidents caused temporary road closures and traffic disruptions as authorities cleared vehicles and secured the sites.
