Fatal Crash on Palermo‑Agrigento Highway Claims Woman’s Life

A head‑on collision between a Fiat Panda and a truck on the Palermo‑Agrigento state road near kilometre 238, close to the Villafrati interchange in the municipality of Bolognetta, Sicily, killed a woman from San Giovanni Gemini. The victim, identified as 54‑year‑old Francesca Miceli (some reports list her age as 55), was travelling toward Palermo when the two vehicles struck violently, crushing the small car.

Road police, fire‑fighters and ANAS personnel responded to extract the body and secure the scene. The highway was temporarily closed to traffic, causing local disruptions while investigators conducted technical reconstructions. Police said the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

The accident highlights ongoing road‑safety concerns on the highway, with authorities continuing to examine vehicle dynamics and possible driver error.
