Fatal crash on PR‑444 in Mandaguari kills one, injures five

A serious traffic collision occurred at kilometer 32 of the PR‑444 highway in Mandaguari, Paraná, around 23:20 on Sunday. A VW Gol registered in Arapongas, driven by a 28‑year‑old man with an expired driver's licence, collided with a BMW X1 from Apucarana. The impact destroyed both vehicles. The driver of the VW Gol died at the scene and was taken to the Instituto Médico Legal in Apucarana. Five other occupants – two passengers in the Gol and three occupants in the BMW – sustained injuries and were transported by ambulance to hospitals in Mandaguari and Maringá. Police confirmed the road segment has a no‑overtaking rule, and the crash occurred under clear weather conditions. The vehicles were later removed by a tow service and taken to the police depot in Rolândia.
