Fatal electrocution deaths reported in Venezuela and Mexico
In Lara state, Venezuela, 32‑year‑old Jorge José Giménez Matos died after a 14,400‑volt high‑tension line arced onto a makeshift repair tube during a rainstorm. He suffered burns on more than 90 % of his body, and an 18‑year‑old helper was also hospitalized with injuries from the same arc.
In the central Veracruz region of Mexico, 61‑year‑old farmer Silverado F. R. was killed when a lightning strike hit him while he walked near a bus stop during a severe thunderstorm. Emergency services confirmed he had no vital signs and his body was transferred to the local forensic office for investigation.
