Fatal forestry accident in Suceava and funeral held for Moldovan referee

In Suceava County, Romania, a 38-year-old forestry worker died following a machinery accident in the Ghizinoaia Forest Canton. The incident occurred on October 3 while the man and a colleague were performing repairs on a forestry machine. During a functional test, the man partially exited the cabin to maneuver a log; the machine then swung abruptly, striking him in the head and projecting him into a nearby tree. Due to a lack of mobile network coverage in the area, his colleague had to travel to a location with signal to alert local forestry officials and emergency services.

In a separate incident in Moldova, the funeral for 30-year-old referee Gheorghe Moldovan was held in his native village of Țânțăreni, Telenești district. Moldovan died by suicide on September 28 using a service weapon following difficulties accepting a divorce. The ceremony was attended by family, colleagues, and a group of motorcyclists fulfilling his final request. His former wife was notably absent from the service.
