Fatal head-on collision in Urgell kills 67-year-old driver

A 67-year-old resident of Belianes died following a head-on collision between a truck and a passenger car on the LP-2015 highway in the Urgell region. The accident occurred around 8:38 a.m. near kilometer 7 in the direction of Bellpuig.

Emergency services, including five units from the Bombers de la Generalitat and two medical units from the Sistema d’Emergències Mèdiques, responded to the scene. Firefighters worked to extricate the driver, who was trapped inside the vehicle, but the individual ultimately succumbed to their injuries. The road was closed in both directions to facilitate emergency operations.

The Mossos d’Esquadra are investigating the exact causes of the collision. According to provisional data from the Servei Català de Trànsit, this incident brings the total number of road fatalities in Catalonia for 2026 to 96.
