Fatal head-on collision on PR-218 in Paraná
A fatal head-on collision occurred on the PR-218 highway between Arapongas and Sabáudia on Tuesday, October 20, 2026. A white Ford Ka, driven by 44-year-old Deivid Enderson Coelho, crossed into the oncoming lane and struck a bitrem truck.
Coelho died in the accident. His wife, who was a passenger in the vehicle, survived but was trapped in the wreckage. Firefighters had to cut through the car's structure to rescue her. She was treated by SAMU emergency teams, including a helicopter deployment, for moderate injuries including a suspected right femur fracture and mild traumatic brain injury.
Truck camera footage captured the moment the car entered the wrong lane, causing the collision. Following the impact, the truck lost control and veered off the road into a vegetated area.
