Fatal head‑on crash on MG‑341 near Piumhi kills woman, injures three

On the morning of 12 July 2026 a head‑on collision occurred on the MG‑341 highway near the airport in Piumhi, Minas Gerais. A Volkswagen Fox travelling toward Piumhi struck a Fiat Strada heading toward São Roque de Minas. The impact was severe.

The female passenger of the Strada was trapped in the wreckage and died at the scene. The Strada driver suffered fractures in both arms, while the Fox driver incurred multiple abrasions and the Fox passenger sustained multiple injuries, including a suspected pelvic fracture. All three survivors were extricated by the fire department, received initial treatment from emergency medical services and were later transported to hospitals.

Police and forensic teams secured the accident site, controlled traffic and began an investigation to determine the cause, examining vehicle positions, possible brake marks and any mechanical failures. No official cause has been released.
