A fatal road accident on Ghana’s Sege-Ada Highway has resulted in at least 13 deaths. The collision occurred on Wednesday, 2 September 2026, involving a Toyota Hiace van and a Ford Transit van.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), 18 people were involved in the crash. While 13 individuals were pronounced dead, five survivors sustained critical injuries and were transported to the Sege Polyclinic for medical treatment. Some reports suggest the vehicles may have collided head-on while traveling in opposite directions.

Firefighters from the Sege Fire Station arrived at the scene around 6:30 a.m. to rescue victims trapped in the vehicles. While the exact cause of the accident is still under investigation, preliminary reports from the Fire Service attributed the crash to suspected speeding and dangerous overtaking.
