Fatal incident at Ingatestone station disrupts Greater Anglia services
A person died after an emergency incident at Ingatestone railway station in Essex on 3 August. British Transport Police said the incident was not suspicious and a coroner's inquest will follow. Services on the London Liverpool Street‑to‑Witham, Colchester, Clacton, Ipswich and Norwich routes were halted while emergency crews worked at the scene.
A separate emergency at Harlow Town railway station also blocked platform 2, forcing trains onto platform 1 and causing delays on Greater Anglia services to Stansted Airport, Cambridge North and between Stratford and Bishop’s Stortford. Greater Anglia and Network Rail apologised for the disruption and advised passengers of possible compensation for delays of 15 minutes or more.
