Fatal incidents in France claim child and driver lives
A nine‑year‑old boy died after drowning in the Seine near a French commune on 31 July. Rescue teams arrived quickly, and a nearby witness used a small boat to save the boy’s mother and his two‑year‑old sibling, but the child could not be revived despite resuscitation efforts.
On 3 August, a collision between two cars on the RD974 near Meursault, close to Beaune, resulted in the death of one male driver and minor injuries to the other. Emergency services, including fire crews and medical teams, responded to the scene, and traffic was temporarily disrupted while the investigation continued.
