Fatal incidents reported in Peru and Paraguay

Two separate fatal incidents have been reported in Peru and Paraguay.

In Ica, Peru, four family members were found unconscious in their home in the Manzanilla urbanization. An 84-year-old woman, Luisa Solís Donayre, died at the scene. Three other relatives, including two elderly brothers and a 49-year-old daughter, were hospitalized with apparent signs of poisoning. Neighbors alerted authorities after noticing the family had not performed their usual daily routines. An open packet of rodent poison was reportedly found inside the residence, though authorities have yet to confirm this as the cause.

In Caazapá, Paraguay, a 66-year-old man named Jorge Báez Cabañas died after being trapped in a house fire. The blaze, which occurred in the San Pedro Mi neighborhood, completely destroyed the residence. Local police and volunteer firefighters responded to the scene, where the victim's body was found charred among the debris. Preliminary investigations suggest the fire may have been caused by a discarded cigarette butt.
