Italy reports two fatal accidents in Pescara and San Giovanni Rotondo
Two separate fatal accidents have been reported in Italy.
In Pescara, 71-year-old Maria Ferrandino died after being struck by a Tua extra-urban bus during a maneuver at the city's bus terminal. The victim had just disembarked from another vehicle and was attempting to reach her son, a driver for the same company, to hand him their four-year-old grandson. Local police are reviewing surveillance footage to reconstruct the incident, which occurred in a blind spot during the bus's movement.
In San Giovanni Rotondo, 65-year-old Michele Turco died following an accident on the SP58 provincial road. Turco, described by local officials as ‘the last guardian of the millennial tradition of transhumance,’ was leading his flock when he and several animals were struck by a car at dawn. Authorities and veterinary services attended the scene to manage the aftermath of the collision.
