Kota minibus accident kills eight on Delhi-Mumbai Expressway

A minibus carrying pilgrims from Bhopal and Betul to the Khatu Shyam Ji temple crashed on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Kota, Rajasthan, early Saturday morning. The vehicle plunged approximately 15 to 20 feet into a drain near the Karadiya interchange after the driver reportedly lost control, possibly due to dozing off.

At least eight people were killed in the accident, and between 15 and 17 others were injured, with several in critical condition. Rescue operations involved local villagers, police, and the National Highways Authority of India, using cranes to retrieve the vehicle from the drain.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh for the families of each deceased victim. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla visited the hospital to check on the injured and directed officials to ensure high-quality medical treatment and investigate road safety measures to prevent future accidents at such black spots.
