Czech and Slovak police respond to traffic collisions, child disappearance and major drug bust

Police in the Czech Republic investigated two separate traffic accidents. In Jablonec nad Nisou a Kia Sportage struck a minor pedestrian, who was taken to hospital with non‑life‑threatening injuries; police ruled out alcohol involvement. In the Olomouc region a cyclist was hit by an unidentified vehicle that fled the scene, and the cyclist was hospitalized.

In Slovakia, police and social services continued the search for a three‑year‑old boy who vanished from a corn field near Huncovce. After more than 30 hours he was found alive in a forest, with the investigation still ongoing.

Czech police also carried out a large drug operation in the Karlovy Vary region, seizing over two kilograms of methamphetamine (pervitin), cocaine and several million crowns in cash. Two men, aged 52 and 65, were arrested and face up to ten years in prison.

Separately, investigators in Hradec Králové recovered several million crowns after a municipal property‑management employee was duped into transferring 46 million CZK to fraudsters posing as police and central‑bank officials. The suspect has been charged with theft.

Police officials noted that Czech law provides special powers for dismantling organised drug networks, underscoring the legal tools used in the recent busts.
