Fatal motorcycle and scooter crashes on Italian roads prompt emergency response

On July 4, 2026, a motorcyclist lost control on the A14 highway between Fano and Pesaro, collided with the guard rail and was thrown from the bike. Emergency services, including police, fire fighters and a helicopter ambulance, transferred the rider to the regional hospital in Ancona. The highway segment was closed temporarily, creating traffic queues of up to four kilometres while responders worked at the scene.

In Milan, 23‑year‑old Giorgia Del Vacchio was killed after her scooter collided with a Land Rover at the Papiniano intersection during the early hours of July 2‑3, 2026. The crash occurred under a flashing yellow light; investigators examined right‑of‑way violations and vehicle speed. She was taken to the city’s main hospital where she was pronounced dead, and police are gathering evidence on the incident.
