Fatal motorcycle crashes in Athens suburbs claim two young riders

A motorcycle collision on 7 June 2026 in Agia Paraskevi, a suburb of Athens, resulted in the death of a 22‑year‑old rider and minor injuries to a 23‑year‑old passenger. Police investigations are underway to determine the cause of the crash.

Two days earlier, on 5 June 2026, a separate incident on a main thoroughfare in Kallithea led to the death of a 27‑year‑old motorcyclist. A 71‑year‑old woman crossing the street was seriously injured, suffering fractures to her arms and legs. Witnesses reported the motorcyclist was traveling at high speed and attempted an evasive maneuver, causing the bike to lose control and strike a fixed object. Authorities are reviewing traffic‑camera footage to clarify the circumstances.

Both accidents highlight ongoing concerns about high‑speed riding and pedestrian safety on busy Athens roads.
