Hermosillo fatal crash caused by speeding and intoxication

A high-speed collision in Hermosillo, Sonora, resulted in four deaths and four injuries on Monday, October 19. Investigations by the Sonora State Attorney General's Office (FGJES) determined that the driver of a Toyota Corolla, identified as 32-year-old Cristian Antonio “N”, was responsible for the accident.

According to forensic reports and surveillance footage, the Toyota was traveling at or above 135 km/h in a 50 km/h zone and failed to stop at a red light. The vehicle collided with a Chevrolet Aveo, which was being operated as a ride-sharing service. The Aveo was traveling at approximately 40 km/h with a green light when the impact occurred, causing the vehicle to spin 64 meters.

The fatalities included the Toyota driver, 32, and three passengers in the Chevrolet Aveo: Suyva Yoeniy “N”, 19, and two minors, aged 16 and 4. The ride-sharing driver, Adolfo Isaac “N”, 45, was injured. Two other minors, aged 2 and 7, also sustained serious injuries and remain in critical condition.

Toxicological tests confirmed that both occupants of the Toyota were under the influence of alcohol, and the passenger also tested positive for cocaine. Authorities noted that the occupants had met at a local entertainment center prior to the incident.
