Fatal road accidents reported in Machang and Tawau
Two separate fatal traffic accidents have been reported in Malaysia. In Machang, a 26-year-old woman died at the scene after her Perodua Axia was struck by a Volvo trailer at a junction near Wakaf Bata. Preliminary investigations suggest the trailer driver, a 47-year-old local man, ran a red light before colliding with the side of the car. Following the crash, police also detained the trailer driver under the Poisons Act 1952 after discovering four plastic packets suspected to contain kratom water.
In Tawau, a 21-year-old woman died after her Perodua Myvi veered off the road and struck a tree at the Old Airport Circle. Fire and rescue personnel had to use specialized tools to extricate the victim from the vehicle. While the driver was pronounced dead at the scene, another individual involved in the accident sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital.
