Fatal road collisions in Brazil kill four and injure several

Two separate traffic collisions in Brazil resulted in multiple deaths and injuries. In Lavras, Minas Gerais, a crash between a Chevrolet Onix and a Volkswagen Gol on the BR‑265 early Sunday morning killed two women, ages 33 and an unidentified victim, and injured four people, including a 52‑year‑old driver with a chest fracture and a 30‑year‑old passenger with contusions. Emergency crews used hydraulic tools to extricate victims and the incident remains under investigation.

Later on Saturday morning in Saudades, Santa Catarina, a head‑on collision between a VW Gol and a Fiat Strada on the SC‑160 claimed the lives of a 24‑year‑old female driver of the Gol and the male driver of the Strada, aged 44, after they were taken to a hospital. The crash also injured an 11‑year‑old boy with facial bruises and chest pain, and the Gol driver’s passenger suffered injuries but survived. Police and fire services secured the scene and are investigating the cause of the collision.
